The Science Behind SilentCycle

PMS doesn’t just cause cramps. It disrupts mood, stress tolerance, sleep, focus, energy, and physical comfort — often all at once. But my patients were adamant about one thing - they didn't want more hormones.

SilentCycle™ was formulated to support a healthy and balanced cycle using natural, hormone-free ingredients that support mood balance, hormonal health, cycle comfort, easy digestion, and a calm focus.

Instead of relying on trendy herbs or underdosed blends, SilentCycle™ combines clinically studied ingredients in bioavailable forms and meaningful doses - designed to support your overall wellbeing throughout your cycle.

Below, we break down the science behind each ingredient.

Ingredient Breakdown

🪻 Chaste Tree Berry (Vitex agnus-castus)

What It Does
Vitex is one of the most studied botanical ingredients for PMS. It supports hormonal balance by modulating dopaminergic pathways in the brain, which can influence prolactin levels and downstream progesterone activity. By supporting luteal-phase hormone regulation, Vitex has been shown to reduce overall PMS symptom severity, particularly mood swings,
irritability, breast tenderness, and cycle-related discomfort.

Why This Form
SilentCycle™ uses a standardized extract containing 0.5% agnusides, the key bioactive compounds associated with Vitex’s hormonal effects. Generic chasteberry powders can vary
widely in potency. Standardization ensures consistency, predictability, and clinically meaningful activity.

Why This Dose
Clinical trials commonly use daily Vitex extract across multiple cycles. The 30 mg standardized extract aligns with commonly studied dosing ranges used in PMS research and is intended for consistent daily support.

🧲 Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate

What It Does
Magnesium supports neuromuscular relaxation, stress regulation, and prostaglandin balance. Clinical trials have shown magnesium supplementation may reduce PMS symptom scores, including mood symptoms, water retention, and discomfort.

Why This Form
Many supplements use magnesium oxide, which is poorly absorbed and commonly causes GI upset. SilentCycle™ uses magnesium bisglycinate chelate, a highly bioavailable and well-tolerated form bound to glycine. This form supports better absorption while being gentler on digestion.

Why This Dose
Clinical PMS studies often use daily magnesium supplementation across cycles. The 100 mg elemental magnesium in SilentCycle™ contributes to nervous system support and muscular
relaxation as part of a multi-ingredient strategy.

severity of premenstrual syndrome symptoms. Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research, 17(2), 131–135.

🌺 Saffron Stigma Extract

What It Does
Saffron has been studied for mood support and has demonstrated improvements in PMS symptom scores in randomized controlled trials. Research suggests it influences serotonin
pathways involved in mood regulation, which may help support emotional balance during the luteal phase.

Why This Form
SilentCycle™ uses a standardized saffron extract (0.3%), ensuring consistent levels of key bioactive compounds. Standardization is essential with botanical ingredients to provide
predictable potency and clinically relevant activity.

Why This Dose
Thirty milligrams daily is a commonly studied amount in mood-support and PMS research. This dose reflects the range used in controlled human trials evaluating premenstrual mood
symptoms.

🧠 Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P)

What It Does
Vitamin B6 plays a critical role in neurotransmitter synthesis, including serotonin, dopamine, and GABA — all of which influence mood regulation and stress resilience. Clinical evidence supports vitamin B6 for reducing emotional PMS symptoms such as
irritability, low mood, and tension.

Why This Form
SilentCycle™ uses Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P), the biologically active form of vitamin B6.
Unlike pyridoxine HCl, which must be converted in the liver before use, P-5-P is ready for immediate cellular utilization. This supports more direct participation in neurotransmitter pathways involved in PMS mood symptoms.

Why This Dose
Clinical studies evaluating B6 for PMS often use moderate daily dosing. SilentCycle™ provides 20 mg of active P-5-P - a supportive dose designed to complement the broader formula without excessive megadosing.

💆‍♀️ L-Theanine

What It Does
L-theanine is an amino acid that promotes calm focus by increasing alpha brain wave activity and modulating stress responses. It supports relaxation without sedation and may improve stress resilience and sleep quality — both commonly disrupted during PMS.

Why This Form
SilentCycle™ uses pure L-theanine at a clinically meaningful dose. Unlike mild herbal calming blends, L-theanine has human clinical trials demonstrating measurable physiologic effects on stress and relaxation.

Why This Dose
200 mg is a dose commonly used in stress and relaxation research. This amount is intended to support calm focus and stress modulation during the luteal phase without causing
drowsiness.

🫚 Ginger Root Extract

What It Does
Ginger has clinical evidence supporting reductions in menstrual pain and inflammation. It works in part by influencing prostaglandin activity, which plays a central role in cramping and discomfort.

Why This Form
SilentCycle™ uses a concentrated ginger extract standardized to 5%, providing consistent active compounds rather than raw powder with variable potency.

Why This Dose
Clinical dysmenorrhea trials often use ginger during the first days of menstruation. The 250 mg extract dose supports menstrual comfort as part of daily cycle support.

WHY IT MATTERS
🧠
⚠️
Magnesium Oxide
🧲
Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate
Oxide is poorly absorbed and causes digestive upset (it’s actually used as a laxative!).

Bisglycinate Chelate is highly bioavailable (easily absorbed) and better tolerated, supporting muscle comfort and your nervous system.
⚠️
Pyridoxine HCl
Active P-5-P
Standard Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) must be converted by the liver before it can be used.

P-5-P is the active form of vitamin B6, ready-to-use as soon as absorbed, supporting your mood and neurotransmitter function at full force.
⚠️
Generic Vitex (Chasteberry) Powder
🌿
Standardized Vitex (Chasteberry) Extract
Vitex (Chasteberry) has strong evidence for supporting hormonal balance, but generic powders can vary widely in potency and consistency.

Our Vitex extract is standardized to contain 0.5% agnusides (the key active ingredient) to ensure a consistent, effective dose - so you know you're actually getting what you paid for.
⚠️
Dong Quai
🌸
30mg Saffron Extract
Dong Quai is commonly included in PMS blends because it's cheap and sounds cool - but it lacks strong evidence for mood support.

Saffron has real human clinical trials showing effective mood balance support during the cycle.
⚠️
Lemon Balm
🧠
L-theanine
Weak calming herbs (lemon balm, etc.) are often not strong enough to support hormonal mood balance.

L-theanine directly supports a calm focus - without any sedation or drowsiness.
⚠️
Peppermint or Fennel
🫚
250 mg Ginger Root Extract
While peppermint and fennel can show up in bloating support formulas, they're often used at too low of doses and don't address inflammation.

Ginger root has clinical evidence supporting cycle comfort and digestive ease. Our standardized extract ensures consistent support throughout the cycle.
